I love me Coronation Street.
I didn’t make a typo or grammatical error. I just wrote what some of the characters on the show might say and how they would say it.
Within the last year or so, my approach to Coronation Street was to just watch it casually as a past-time whenever I could.
However, the stories and acting are so gripping that my approach has now changed to an unchangeable need to watch the show every week.
I started liking and caring for some characters more than others and now understand why the show has been on the air for so long.
I watched a documentary about Canada’s affection for Coronation Street prior to my own certified craziness for the show. Apparently, CBC gets bombarded with angry emails and calls if/when Coronation Street is pre-empted. I believe they played excerpts from some of those calls and admittedly they were not pleasant to hear.
I can understand how and why those people would react the way they did if Coronation Street was disrupted. The 2012 Stanley Cup Finals caused a minor inconvenience in my Coronation Street viewing. Instead of an hour of viewing, it was reduced to 30 minutes. That in turn caused a delay in Canada being caught up to the U.K. broadcasts. I feel Canada will be caught up by the end of the year.
I always have the opportunity to catch up but have never taken it. I let the pacing of the Canadian broadcasts tell the Corrie story to me at its natural course.
