Smif–N–Wessun

Smif-N-Wessun’s Dah Shinin’ is one of those epic hip hop albums I speak of.

The album is nearly 80 minutes of classic, underground New York hip hop.

The album’s production is provided by Da Beatminerz who handles beat making duties for Black Moon and the rest of Bootcamp Click.

The Source magazine gave the album containing Let’s Get It On, Bucktown, Wreckonize and Sound Bwoy Bureill 3.5/5 mics at the time of its release but I believed it should have gotten 4/5 instead.

I may have been a little getting the message but flyers near the Foufounes Electriques with the image below informed me that the duo joined forces with producer Pete Rock for an album.

My search for their new music begins so that Suite Delight playlists are fully loaded with Smif-N-Wessun's sounds before the year's end.

I’ve had the good fortune of catching two Smif-N-Wessun concert performances in the last two years.

I was even more fortunate that they visited my fair city as opposed to my going to New York like I did the last time I saw them for CMJ’s 2010 Duck Down vs. Blacksmith Showcase.
The Duck Down duo were the special guests for Under Pressure 2012. The photograph just above taken from that night reflects the songs I was burning to hear. I may have been too close to the speakers but close enough for the duo to shake my hand.

On September 18, the Brooklyn-based hip hop duo is scheduled to appear at Montreal's Hip-Hop Café for a Meet & Greet.  The event is from 7:30pm - 8:30pm located at 4801 Avenue Du Parc, Montreal, Quebec H2V 4E7.

Later that evening, Smif-N-Wessun are scheduled to take the stage of Cabaret Underworld with Young Dirty Bastard at 1403 Ste-Elisabeth, Montreal, QC, H2X 3C5.
