Brand Nubian - One For All (1990)

Elektra Records should have been called Epic Records instead because they had a history of releasing lengthy, sprawling hip hop albums back in the days.

Brand Nubian’s debut album along with the Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth bangers are examples of how you either do it big or go home. Clocking it at nearly 80 minutes of music, you rarely to never skip a track.

Brand Nubian’s One For All arrived at the right time. Released in 1990 during the peak of the hip hop Afrocentric phase, it was simply some of New York hip hop at its finest.

I remember saying that if there was a hip hop album that deserved The Source’s 5-Mic Classic status, One For All would be ideal.
