Redman was a beast when he hit the hip hop scene in the early 90s.
His verse, originally from the EPMD cut, made its way onto his own classic debut Whut? Thee Album.
If anyone wants a lesson in alliteration, listen to what Redman does during this track. I would learn and know the term for what Redman does in that song years later. I believe it is to this day the best use of alliteration ever in the history of hip hop.
I not too long ago saw footage of Redman performing Blow Your Mind on Yo! MTV Raps & In Living Color and it brought back memories.
I’ll never forget the first time I heard him on Hardcore and Brothers on my Jock. I even remember him taking the bite out of the chicken leg in the Scenario video.
I went to New York in 1992 and returned with his classic Whut? Thee Album cassette. I would get that cassette booklet signed by him in 1996 when he, Keith Murray, Biz Markie, Too Short and Erick Sermon came to Montreal.
The Suite Delight new time slot is Tuesday morning 1-2am EST on www.ckut.ca & 90.3 FM.
