Golden Era Hip Hop Record Label Tribute

When discussing quality music of the golden era hip hop history, most look at the album's artists, groups or producers as responsible for the classic status.

One must look at the record labels responsible for their role in providing the classic hip hop music as well.

Although there are no longer a multitude of hip hop record labels to speak of today like some 20 years ago, this is the time to remember and recognize those that released the classic artists, groups and producers that we debate as greatest of all time now.

These labels in their own right are the greatest of all time and should be familiar to all self-respecting hip hop heads.

Sugar Hill Records

Jive Records

Wild Pitch Records

Tommy Boy Records

Ruthless Records

Profile Records

Def Jam Recordings

WEA (Warner Brothers Records, Elektra Records & Atlantic Records)
